Frequently Asked Questions
Lab diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically the same as mined diamonds—just created in a lab environment instead of the earth. Moissanite are a different gemstone in their own right, they just bear a striking similarity in appearance and so are frequently compared. They are both stones that will last lifetimes of daily wear and are perfectly suitable for engagement and wedding rings.
Since creating each detail of your custom design takes time, it’s important to consider the production timeline before planning a proposal. Our engagement ring production time frame takes approximately 6-8 weeks for completion. This timeline does not include shipping which can be longer during holidays so please plan ahead if you're planning a proposal.
When the ring is complete, we will be in touch to notify you that your item will is ready to be shipped out.
Please see our customization page for more details.
We know it is trendy to go very thin but we maintain a 1.8mm minimum for our plain gold or platinum bands and 2mm minimum for pavè as it is sturdy enough to withstand life's daily challenges. All of our rings come standard with a width and height of 2mm and we do not charge extra for "extra gold" as we want to encourage all our clients to choose higher quality settings.
Yes. We only curate the most premium lab diamonds available on the market and often custom cut our own inventory from high quality diamond growers in order to obtain the most desirable faceting patterns and cutting proportions.
We're passionate about discussing price discrepancies in the market!
There is an enormous variation in the quality of lab diamonds grown on the wholesale market nowadays, especially as the barrier to entry has lowered. Frankly speaking, there's cheap lab diamonds and expensive lab diamonds.
The reason for this is because there's numerous ways now to shortcut the growth of lab diamonds; doping them with elements like boron, speeding up the growth cycles, reusing diamond seeds, and beyond.
Most of the cheaper lab diamond material available on the market is grown using shortcuts. The problem with the shortcuts is you end up with growth defects: blue, gray and brown color tinges, strain, striation, cloudiness/haziness, and slushy-looking stones. It's also just hard to grow lab diamonds and the methodology is not perfected yet.
That's why you'll see stones with the exact same 4C's, at hugely varying prices. It's not that suppliers were confused when they priced them, it's that the quality was different and they were priced accordingly.
You can see the difference in the quality of the material, it speaks for itself.
We made the business decision early on to offer premium diamonds only and we've never looked back. This is a purchase our clients make once, we want to offer the best materials with the best craftsmanship.
We work with master goldsmiths and and simply put, it's not cheap labor. High quality craftsmanship is paramount to our values and also paramount to a ring's durability.
If you're getting a ring for little more than its worth in raw material, it means that people along the way are not being paid fairly to create that piece.
By default, we curate stones within your stone shape's ideal ratio. If you would like to request a specific ratio, please send us an email at hello@thebijoulab.com at the time of your order and we can see if we have that ratio available or if we can customize it for you.

No, we use brilliant cut moissanite in all of our rings.
Crushed ice or crushed ice hybrid stones can look incredible in direct sunlight/artifical light but always have a hazy/cloudy in appearance when in normal or dim lighting due to moissanite's double refractive properties. Regardless of the skill of the lapidary; the properties of moissanite combined with the nuances of the cut will result in foggyness. If you prefer the crushed ice look, we recommend looking at lab diamonds.

Water does not impact the diamonds, moissanite or settings of our rings, but the buildup from shampoo and chemicals in pools and salt water can erode the alloys in your setting.

It depends on the style. We evaluate each project on a case by case basis dependent on the ring style and the size change desired. Many rings have sizing limitations, which is why we strongly suggest being sized by a jeweler or with a metal ring sizer before ordering. Using a string/paper/plastic sizer is not as accurate as using a metal ring sizer and often results in incorrect sizing.
Solitaires typically can usually be safely be resized up to 2 sizes.
Rings with 3/4 pave can usually be safely resized up to 1/2 size
3 Stone settings can usually be safely resized up to 1/2 size
The process of sizing will always make the band a few tenths of a mm thinner, so we always recommend sizing your finger before ordering!
No, full eternity bands cannot be resized. Any rings that have full pavè around the entire band cannot be resized. We strongly recommend getting sized with a metal ring sizer before placing an order.
Depends on availability! Please reach out to us to inquire about colored stones!
The best way is to visit a professional jeweler to get sized. You may also purchase a metal ring sizer online (they have them for $5 or less on Amazon).
