Frequently Asked Questions
Lab diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically the same as mined diamonds—just created in a lab environment instead of the earth. Moissanite are a different gemstone in their own right, they just bear a striking similarity in appearance and so are frequently compared. They are both stones that will last lifetimes of daily wear and are perfectly suitable for engagement and wedding rings.
Since creating each detail of your custom design takes time, it’s important to consider the production timeline before planning a proposal. Our engagement ring production time frame takes approximately 6-8 weeks for completion. This timeline does not include shipping which can be longer during holidays so please plan ahead if you're planning a proposal.
When the ring is complete, we will be in touch to notify you that your item will is ready to be shipped out.
Please see our customization page for more details.
We know it is trendy to go very thin but we maintain a 1.8mm minimum for our plain gold or platinum bands and 2mm minimum for pavè as it is sturdy enough to withstand life's daily challenges. All of our rings come standard with a width and height of 2mm and we do not charge extra for "extra gold" as we want to encourage all our clients to choose higher quality settings.
Since a band is 3 dimensional, there is a width and thickness measurement. Our thickness measurement will typically match our band width for bands 2mm and below. For instance, a 2mm wide band will have a 2mm thickness otherwise known as 2mm x 2mm. For bands wider than 2mm, width is evaluated on a case by case basis as going too thick can result in an uncomfortable fit.
Yes. We expertly curate diamonds to maximize the value our clients get from the stone for the price. We always select eye-clean clarity (VS1 or higher) and colorless or near colorless stones (G or higher) with an emphasis on minimizing unwanted characteristics such as a bow tie, striae, and color tinges. If you wish to choose your specific stone stats (4C's) please reach out to us and we can custom curate a stone to your requirements (pricing will change to reflect the grading you choose).
By default, we curate stones within your stone shape's ideal ratio. If you would like to request a specific ratio, please send us an email at hello@thebijoulab.com at the time of your order and we can see if we have that ratio available.

No, we use brilliant cut moissanite in all of our rings.
Crushed ice or crushed ice hybrid stones can look incredible in direct sunlight/artifical light but always have a hazy/cloudy in appearance when in normal or dim lighting due to moissanite's double refractive properties. Regardless of the skill of the lapidary; the properties of moissanite combined with the nuances of the cut will result in foggyness. For that reason, we decided to no longer offer crushed ice moissanite. If you prefer the crushed ice look, we recommend looking at lab diamonds.

Water does not impact the diamonds, moissanite or settings of our rings, but the buildup from shampoo and chemicals in pools and salt water can erode the alloys in your setting.

It depends on the style. We evaluate each project on a case by case basis dependent on the ring style and the size change desired. Not all rings can be resized a large amount which is why we strongly suggest being sized by a jeweler or with a metal ring sizer before ordering. Using a string/paper/plastic sizer is not as accurate as using a metal ring sizer and often results in incorrect sizing.
Solitaires typically can be safely be resized up to 2 sizes.
Rings with 3/4 pave can be safely resized up to 1/2 size
3 Stone settings can be safely resized up to 1/2 size
No, full eternity bands cannot be resized. Any rings that have full pavè around the entire band cannot be resized. We strongly recommend getting sized with a metal ring sizer before placing an order.

We provide design mockups for our custom bespoke orders ONLY. In order to provide the most accurate reflection of what your finished product will come to be, the first step in the custom process is the creation and approval of a digital render. This ensures expectations of the final product are clear and that both parties are on the same page as we work together to bring your dream ring to life.
We provide digital renders for our complete custom/bespoke orders to ensure the client is happy with the look of their custom design.
For our signature design rings, we do NOT provide renders as the ring design is shown on the website and the final product will appear as shown.
